Positive change and healing happen when the body and brain work together. The brain's powers of learning and thinking impact the body in fundamental ways. In return, the body provides the brain with needed energy to work. Wellness practices are critical to both body and brain function. Wellness is an important piece in the puzzle of mood and mental health.
We take seriously the "body" aspect of a mind-body-spirit approach to health. Counseling and education change the brain through awareness and thought. Wellness strategies enhance the brain's in additional ways, through improved nutrition and self-care. Because food and eating challenges are common, we also work with clients to develop a healthier relationship with food and overcome dysfunctional eating patterns.
Nourishing the body nourishes the brain. A well-fed brain is more likely to generate positive, hopeful, creative thoughts. Combining wellness strategies that nourish the brain and body with individualized and group counseling strategies can boost the effectiveness of counseling and lead to more positive and enduring change and happier life.
